I am waiting at the Nieuwmarkt subway station in Amsterdam, waiting for the rain to stop.
A girl in her twenties walks up to me and starts talking:
“Are you staying here?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“I am waiting for the rain to stop.”
“Maybe we can sleep together.”
“No thanks.”
“Why not?”
“Why would I?”
“What are you going to do?”
“I am going to my work.”
“Why?”
“I’m just going.”
“Do you have money for me? Just a little?”
“No.”
“Why not? I am hungry.”
“No.”
“I am from Ukraine.”
“Sorry.”
Then she walks on. I see her talking to other people. Along the next canal she meets up with her accomplice. A big guy that would probably have robbed me…
Never a dull moment in Amsterdam.
